Travel over the Westgate Bridge or take a ferry from St Kilda to discover Williamstown or "Willy" as its referred to by the locals, an attractive historic seaside town.
Stroll along Nelsons Place, and the Strand, soaking in the historic seaside atmosphere whilst taking in the local arts, crafts and antiques. Other attractions along here include great restaurants and cafes to stop in for a bite to eat & good pubs and bars to quench a thirst.
Tour on one of the old moored boating vessels such as the HMAS Castlemaine, a WWII minesweeper that was actually built at Williamstown in 1941 and is now converted into a maritime museum, covering all historical points of Williamstown.
Every 3rd Sunday monthly, a craft Market is held on the Commonwealth Reserve Park where you can grab a souvenir and some locally made wares and treats.
If you're a rail enthusiast, then don't miss the Williamstown Railway Museum, which is opened on weekends and public holidays from noon to 5pm. It has a great collection of old steam locomotives, [B]wagons, carriages; historical photo's and a mini steam train ride for kids.
